I wonder, Items for pets/RPG elements?

I know that there is/may be/could be plans for a cash shop. Is there any way to expand this into being able to get items for the adopted pets and to possibly let them go through quests?

I'm not looking for this anywhere near right away, but something to think about for further down the road.
