Default Pros & Cons of CV's!

This is a must read if you want to use a Custom Version! Any custom versions MUST link this in their thread!!!

What's a Custom Version(CV)?

Mysidia is a very flexible project, and coders are allowed to release Custom Versions of the script with a few disclaimers. A Custom Version means that version of the script was NOT developed by the Mysidia Development Staff. Official Versions are the only versions developed by the Development Staff.

What are the Pro's of a CV?

- CV's can often have a specific focus, such as a Pokemon-Focused CV would have a system more specifically designed for a Pokemon Adoptable/Petsite.

- CV's can have more advanced modifications. OV's are designed to improve across the board as far as features go, and they try to improve everything little by little. CV's could instead have many more features in a particular area, such as a really nice shop script, but no more updates to the admin panel.

- CV's can happen more often and have more updates than the OV's, it's up to the discretion of the CV Coder.

What are the Con's of a CV?

- OV upgraders may not always work properly on CV's.

- If a CV Coder stops updating, you may be out of luck unless you can find someone to pick up where they left off.

- CV may have more bugs, less security or even malicious codes. If this is the case, alert Mysidia staff immediately so we can remove any malicious codes. It might be a good idea to have a 3rd party coder review the code to ensure there is nothing malicious.

- CV's are not supported by anyone other than the CV Coder/Team.

- CV's may not be compatible with Addons & Modifications made by other users for the Official Versions.

Rules of the Custom Versions
These are specifically directed at the CV Coders or Teams developing CV's.

- Copyrights may be added, however the base script's copyrights MAY NOT be removed without the proper permission.
- Malicious codes that purposefully exploit users is strictly prohibited. You can be banned for this!
- HoF has allowed the use of the Official Versions as a base for the Custom Versions, however if you want to use an alternate Custom Version for a base you must get the permission of the Custom Version Coder/Team.
- Minor releases, or security patches should be updated in threads. Major releases may have their own threads.
- Mysidia is NOT responsible for Custom Versions, or damages caused by them.
- CV Coders/Teams must support their CV or else it will be archived.
- Archived CV's are no longer receiving support.
- You must have the CV Coders/Teams permission to create a Modification specifically for that CV. You may however make your OV modifications compatible with popular CV's without permission.

Custom Version Definitions

CV, Custom Version - A version of the Mysidia Adoptables that is not endorsed by Mysidia as an Official Version. Usually created by a single user or a team of users who are not development staff.

OV, Official Version - A version of the Mysidia Adoptables that was developed by the Dev Staff and is endorsed and supported by Dev Staff/Mysidia Adoptables.

Archived - The state of a Custom or Official Version where the version is no longer being supported.

Beta - A custom version that is currently in it's beta version means it's released, but has known bugs or errors that have not been fixed in the released download.

CV Coder, CV Team - The user(s) developing the specified Custom Version. They are sort of the 'owners' of the version, along with the developers of the base.

This guide may be updated so check it every so often.
