How to use

Hello, how exactly do I use this site? :3

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 03:10 PM

Umm what do you mean? And what is the problem you are having? Cant find a host, cant upload the script through ftp, or cant complete the install wizard?

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:14 PM

Well I mean how do you use it? What does it do?

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 03:18 PM

Well... This is a free script that you need to install on your webserver, just like a software like Microsoft Office you need to install on your personal computer. Its rather easy to install though, first download the script from our downloads page and then upload to your webserver if you use a webhost(you can skip this step if you host your own site, but its quite unlikely for most newbies). To install the script, run the installer and follow the instructions.

This script does a lot of things for you. It has a built-in breeding and itemshop feature, and of course a lot more than these. Read the features list if you wanna learn more before getting started. Best luck!

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:22 PM

Well I do have my own site :3
http://midnighthowl.net/
it's just hard for me to do what iv'e already done on there, what I really want to know is how to transfer everything to my site

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 03:25 PM

Well have you ever used ftp? You will need this to upload the script you download from Mysidia Adoptables official site to your own webserver. Its really easy though, lemme know if you need more help.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:28 PM

Alright, this doesn't take up to much space to download right?
and yes I have used ftp, that's how I got the other stuff on there :3

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 03:32 PM

I see, then you should know how to upload/install this script already. Look at this thread for instruction on how to install this script, should not take more than 3 minutes:
http://www.mysidiaadoptables.com/for...ead.php?t=3571

And enjoy, lemme know if anything goes wrong.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:34 PM

Alrighty thanks :3

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:36 PM

Now one more question, do I need to install all of the links?

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 03:40 PM

Also can I change the name to: account.html? besides account.php? Cause I kind of have to

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 04:06 PM

umm you do not need to install anything more than the core script, just run the installer and it will do the trick for you so long as you follow the instruction by entering the appropriate fields.

I dont suppose this is possible, and I dont understand why you 'kind of have to'. The script is coded with PHP anyway.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 04:08 PM

Well I mean my step grandpa said that the program I use says it has to be called .html

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 04:51 PM

Well php is a more advanced version of html, or at least you can think about it in this way for now. Do not worry, you will be fine with php just as you are with html.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 04:58 PM

ALright thanks :3 sorry all these questions but, which file is the core file?

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 05:07 PM

Well there is no such thing called core file at least for this time being, everything is about equal importance. If you are talking about the index file, it is index.php.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 05:12 PM

Alright i'm still confused XD

SilverDragonTears 04-16-2012 05:45 PM

You can't use the mys script with myadpots if that's what you're trying to do. Which is what I think you want to do after reading through the posts.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 05:58 PM

I don't, I want to use it for this
http://midnighthowl.net/

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 06:00 PM

Well why do you wanna know what is the core file? Even I cannot tell which one is tbh, lol.

Well I thought that cause you said it here

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 06:05 PM

Oh this... The core script is not one single file here, it represents all files necessary to get your site to work. XD I apologize for the confusion.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 06:06 PM

Ohhh ok :3 do you have a hosting service here? So I can try it out? Before I put it on my site

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 06:09 PM

Well we are not a hosting service, it is a script we make for users to download to their own computers and servers. I do have a dedicated server comparable to BMR's, but its not used for hosting.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 06:15 PM

It ok hows 000webhost? or x10hosting?

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 06:22 PM

So it's kind of working here's is whats coming up

It's because you changed the .php to a .html. ;3 HTML isn't as powerful as PHP.

Since the script is coded in PHP all files have to remain as PHP files. ;3 Hope that helps a bit. ;3

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 06:30 PM

Alright thanks let me try that :3

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 06:31 PM

Now it comes like this
http://midnighthowl.net/adopt.php

Hall of Famer 04-16-2012 06:53 PM

It seems to me that you only uploaded the adopt.php file to your site. *sigh* You need to upload every script file within the folder Mysidia Adoptables v1.3.1 to your server, not just the adopt.php file.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 09:07 PM

Oh ok :3 thanks

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 09:23 PM

It's still not working I don't get it

SilverDragonTears 04-16-2012 09:45 PM

What steps are you using to install the script?

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 09:57 PM

what do you mean steps?

SilverDragonTears 04-16-2012 10:17 PM

._. How are you installing the script? Are you uploading the WHole folder to your site using an ftp client? And then are you installing it by going to yoursiteurl/install? Have you made databases for it? It doesn't just magically work for you. You have to actually install it first.

MaximumRide 04-16-2012 10:19 PM

Alright I will have to do that all tomorrow, it's late where I am

AlexC 04-17-2012 05:46 AM

Once you wake up, can you go through this install tutorial and tell us what you're not doing or are doing?

http://www.mysidiaadoptables.com/for...ead.php?t=3532

Might be a good idea to follow it as well. :3

Hall of Famer 04-17-2012 05:51 AM

To me it seems that she uploaded script files in root directories, but not files in admincp, classes, functions, inc and install. You need to upload everything inside the Mysidia Adoptables v1.3.1 folder to your site, not just the script files you can see from first glimpse. There are many lib files, config files, img files and more from other subdirectories, you've gotta upload them all.

MaximumRide 04-17-2012 09:19 AM

Well the only thing is, i'm not using X10hosting or Gemstone Hosting

solskenn 04-17-2012 11:38 AM

Download winarar
Download Filezilla
Make sure you have a Database on your site, make one if you haven't already.
Use winrar to unzip the folder within.
Open the folder and Filezilla.
Once you have both open, take all of the files inside the folder and drag them into the area "public_html" on filezilla.

This should work for just about all hosts.

If you'd like, make another site on the same host to use as a test site, for when uploading so you can see what it looks like. It doesn't have to have a pretty name, since it won't be used for anything other than testing.
