I'll try that :)

Thanks for all your help on all this.

If I can't get this to work, could I possibly hire you to make a mod for me for layering these backgrounds and toys onto the Pets ?

I can't afford much but I would so love to be able to do this .. but I am going to buckle down and really try to get how to make this work. I'll keep you posted on this .. I'm sure others would dearly love to be able to add things to their pets .. there isn't a whole lot to do really on the site once you get it all set up, as I have people say to me all the time -- well what else is there ?

EDIT: as far as I can recall it wasn't changed, the contents

Okay I did the replace and got this:

Fatal error: Call to a member function resize() on a non-object in /home/petsim/public_html/Canidae/view/myadoptsview.php on line 31

And yes I see what you mean about a difference, sorry needed coffee -- I have the variable $bg called $background now. I renamed everywhere needed though to compensate for that.

The folder the images live in is /bgimages.

here is the code I replaced it to:

Code:
public function getImage($fetchMode = ""){
    if($this->currentlevel == 0) return $this->getEggImage($fetchMode);

    if ( $this->background){ $background= "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->background.".png'>"; }
    if ( $this->item1 ){ $item1 = "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->item1.".png'>"; }
    if ( $this->item2 ){ $item2 = "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->item2.".png'>"; }
    if ( $this->item3 ){ $item3 = "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->item3.".png'>"; }
    if ( $this->item4 ){ $item4 = "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->item4.".png'>"; }
    if ( $this->item5 ){ $item5 = "<img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/bgimages/".$this->item5.".png'>"; }

    $layers = "<div class='petcontainer'>
        ".$background."
        <img class='layer' src='http://pet-sim.com/Canidae/".$this->imageurl.".png'>
        ".$item1.$item2.$item3.$item4.$item5."
        </div>";

    return $layers;
}

I also tried to remove the item1, item2 etc ----and left just the background portion and got this error:

Catchable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to AppController::setField() must implement interface Resource\Native\Objective, string given, called in /home/petsim/public_html/Canidae/myadopts.php on line 43 and defined in /home/petsim/public_html/Canidae/classes/class_appcontroller.php on line 169

Alright, open up myadoptsview.php and remove line 31, it's "$image->resize(150);" and see how things work, then?

If you'd still like the image to be smaller in this location, perhaps I can convince the function to accept an optional parameter than can resize the image based on the number you give it when you call it.

Got this after removing that:

Catchable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to AppController::setField() must implement interface Resource\Native\Objective, string given, called in /home/petsim/public_html/Canidae/myadopts.php on line 50 and defined in /home/petsim/public_html/Canidae/classes/class_appcontroller.php on line 169

I'm starting to think this is a much bigger thing to code than I realized, lol.

That error is a bit baffling, because I'm not having it, and I'm trying on my fresh install.

The changes you've made to the function may be causing some of the problems. So let's try this:

PHP Code:
public function getImage($fetchMode ""){

$mysidia Registry::get("mysidia");
    if(
$this->currentlevel == 0) return $this->getEggImage($fetchMode);

    if (
$this->bg ){ $bg "<img class='layer' src='{$mysidia->path->getAbsolute()}bgimages/{$this->bg}.png'>"; }

$layers "<div class='petcontainer'>
        "
.$bg."
        <img class='layer' src='
{$mysidia->path->getAbsolute()}/images/{$this->imageurl}.png'>
        </div>"
;

    return
$layers;

EDIT: Last edited at 3:25 PM EST, try this version.

Here's without the items. Try this. I'm not having bugs on my end. [If stuff still isn't displaying, I'll need to see how images are being stored in the database with a screenshot of the imageurl column if you can.]

Also, where I had you set the css, you might want to/need to add a width and height to those things. For example:

Code:
.layer { position:absolute; left:0; top:0; width: 200px; height: 200px; }
.petcontainer { position:relative; width: 200px; height: 200px;}
This could definitely get sticky if you don't have a uniform height and width set shared among all your pets.

I do not want to see the structure of column imageurl. I want to see the owned_adoptables table so I can view the column imageurl so I can see an example of the contents being stored in that column for any pet. I want to know if begins with http:// or ends in .png or either or both or neither.

Also, refresh this page and try the latest edit to the code from my last post, please?

the table screen shot is above -- just refresh that image, sorry, I misunderstood.

I just tried the edited code, I am tempted to make a new install myself and see what is the matter .. if its working for you, it's got to be something with the site mods themselves!

Okay I need to show you this, with adding the css size coding, this is now trying very hard to work --- however the BG is in front of the pet image.

Other than that, it SEEMS to be working ---
