The only other one I have ever seen is this --> Blog Hoster (Search "Blog Hosting Script" on Google), but that is kind of expensive, unless your the investing type.

Subdomain are treated like individual websites as long a you don’t use a lot of inner linking from the main domain or do cross-linking.
I could have used just a regular version of WordPress and created a whole lot of subdomains from my Cpanel…. but that would mean that I would have to also install wordpress for each subdomain and then setup all the plugins and themes. With WordPress MU you can configure it to have plugins standard with each new blog that you create. It's Great.
