I know that both CPanel and DirectAdmin can work with wildcard subdomains. With DirectAdmin you need to be the root user or have the root user change settings for you to get the wildcard subdomains working. Here are the CPanel and DirectAdmin directions:

I'm using plesk.
Look on google for directions regarding how to add domain wildcard on plesk. Then, at your domain DNS control registar (godaddy, name.com, etc), don't forget to also setup the wildcard value. Last but not least - follow the instructions carefully and remember to wait a few hours as the DNS takes it's sweet time to be updated.
