General Mysidia Question:
Hi! Thanks for stumbling upon my thread :3
Anyway, I am going to try my absolute best to sound as little like a total newbie as possible, but I can't guarantee anything haha! So - my main question is to whether or not you'd recommend using Mysidia for a site? I am creating my own Virtual Pet Site and have so far been using Mysidia, and it seems okay... will I begin to see issues later? Thanks! |

The only thing I'd recommend more would be to code it yourself from scratch, but that's a daunting task.
Be aware that the next version is being actively worked on by HoF, but it's such a major overhaul of the system that old copies of the database won't be transferable (probably). It's still a very good idea to start now with the current version, plan a theme, design pets and items, etc.

Really? I thought she'd stopped with the whole thing! That is very exciting: do we have any rough ideas on how long till release? Thanks,

Nah, I talk to him over messenger now and then. My hope is for this summer, but... it's a free project and there's life (school/jobs/internships/whatever is going on for him) to deal with. I feel it's getting close. ^^

I can't wait! If everything is changing then it must be big! Have you ever used Kitto? I heard good things about it, but I am not so sure myself.

Well yes the next version is being worked on, but lately I've been doing something else, for the future of this project. It may take a long time to explain why I am doing this, I am thinking about writing a blogpost about the issue. But to summarize the next major version of PHP 7 will be released soon and Mysidia is not designed to be compatible with PHP 7(hint: scalar type hinting and reserved keywords). It should not be a problem for Mys v1.4.0 as by the time it is released, PHP 7 is unlikely to be available on most webhosts. But I do have a lot of decisions to make right now, as Mys v1.5.0 or v1.6.0 will probably be released at a time when PHP 7 becomes the mainstream on webhosts, and I dont want to rewrite the application again at that time. The good news is that I've figured out a solution, and by around early next week I should return to the development of Mys v1.4.0.
