Question about breeding
Not sure if this goes here but...I'm just curious as to how the breeding feature works, so far I've gathered that an adoptable, when adopted by a user, can either be male or female...and that's about it XD Can only adoptables of the same type breed? And do they simply produce more of that same adoptable? Or does it require the admin to also upload outcomes of different adopts breeding? Sorry for the questions, but I've never even used the script before, so I'm just curious... |
Well which version of Mysidia Adoptables are you using? Starting from Mys v1.2.1, a new concept called adoptables class is defined and it will determine if two adoptables can interbreed. Lemme illustrate the point with an example...
Assume you have three species - Lion, Leopard and Wolf. The adoptable class is Feline for Lion and Leopard, and Canine for Wolf. The Lion and Leopard are both from the same class Feline, and thus can interbreed to give either a baby lion or baby leopard(hybrid species is not possible atm). Wolf however, cannot breed with Lion or Leopard since its from Canine class. Hopefully this explains how the concept of adoptables class and interbreeding work. Of course you can always breed adoptables of the same species(type), this is what you can do even with Mys v1.2.0 and any existing breeding scripts here. |
Okay! That's better than what I thought :D Thanks for answering! -Iris |
can an adopt have multiple classes? if separated by comma or something? was just thinking about the pokemon ditto how it can have eggs with any species, so what class would ditto have to be able to breed with all?

maybe in breeding.php you could do an "if" statement? i haven't looked at it so i'm not sure but you could try it
|
Actually thats an interesting suggestion to have, I'd say why not? It is not available at this moment, but should be possible soon.
|
Yay, my thread managed to do something good for the community :D Haha, that'd be a cool feature to add...it'd allow for the creation of mixed species, in a way *re-thinks logic*
|
Well by manipulating PHP explode and implode functions, its possible to not only add multiple breeding classes, but also multiple usergroups, multiple currencies and more. Since Mys v1.2.3 is already finalized and will be available for download soon, I will consider the idea of multiple breeding classes in either Mys v1.2.4 or v1.3.0.

Not too related but how do you change the name of an adopt when it evolves? for instance a pickachu does not evolve into a pickachu lol.
|
Well you will need my evolution script to accomplish this. The current Mod is compatible with Mys v1.1.x and I've designed a new one compatible with Mys v1.2.3, which will likely to be released next week.
Also do not post in this thread if your question is irrelevant to the topic. Just make a new one and I will make sure to read it. |
