Site won't show up after install?

NOTE: I accidently posted this in suggestions and comments - probably my sleep deprived mind. Can someone delete first one? D: I am so sorry.

Okay, I have only a limited knowledge of php and, as you can probably guess, something went wrong!

I installed the script just fine - it went to that page where it was all "here's a few things to know before you start".

It told me to go to my admin.php page, so I did, and I got this;

Quote:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/gloometh/public_html/inc/functions.php on line 785

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/gloometh/public_html/inc/functions.php:785) in /home/gloometh/public_html/inc/functions.php on line 21

At the bottom of the page, in very small letters and in white (only noticed when I copied everything on the page) was; A total of queries were used in this page. They were: .

My login page, which the congrats messaged told me to go too as well, shows the same, though it has a few changed lines.

http://ratties.x10.mx/login.php

I am being hosted by x10hosting

Also, I think this may be my internet, but I registered http://ratties.zzl.org/ while trying to find hosts, and for some reason, http://www.ratties.x10.mx/ is showing the exact same starter page for the index...? This may just be my internet, it's been acting up all day.

Help please? xD Ppppllleeeaaasseee?

Take me through step by step what you did.

AlexC 03-16-2011 06:50 PM

well, I did have some issues uploading stuff, but that was mainly me being stupid. xD I finally got them into the right folder, and it went smoothly through the install progress until I got to the "enter a database ___" page. For some reason, it didn't show the "localhost" thing, so I guessed a few times at a host name and when I clicked next or whatever, it kept saying that the mySQL couldn't connect or something. I went back two steps and then it showed localhost and I basically did the rest of the install progress smoothly. The only other problem was when I forgot to add a tagline and left it blank.

Was that the problem, perhaps? When I did the wrong host name? D:

UPDATE: I tried reinstalling, using the same info as before. Nothing changed, as far as I could tell. It still showed the same error. D: I even deleted all of the files and tried uploading them again. I'm going to try creating another database and user and see if that works...

Make sure your database account has permission to read, write, delete, update, etc...

OMG IT WORKED. <3 Thank you, thank you, thank you a hundred times over! :D *huggles* ttthhhaannnkkk yyyooouuu...

I feel stupid now though, lol. I didn't know that.

Glad the problem is resolved, enjoy!

Make sure to select all privileges for your database users next time:

thanks, I will. xD the databases I had worked with before were all done automatically... I never knew any of this stuff.

Hall of Famer 03-17-2011 10:59 AM

Well your host should have a cpanel that allows you to create database and database users. This is where it is supposed to be done though. XD
