Arvyre.com - my adoptables site

  • As if my signature wasn't enough advertisement, I've recently been pointed to this thread! :)

Arvyre.com started as a simple whim to make something like dragoncave. I had never heard of adoptables or clickables before, and it was my first contact with them. I had no clue about php, html or anything - but this was something I wanted.
Through a lot of googling and site jumping I eventually found this site, and after Brandon finally got me to understand the installation process, Arvyre was created. Of course it was Beta1 back then, but that didn't stop us. Arvyre hit the floor running, gaining about 50 users a day, and we haven't stopped!
Since then we've successfully overloaded two servers, murdered our bandwidth allowance more than twice, and are growing at twice the rate. So far we're at about 8000 at the time of this post.

Anyway, that's the history of Arvyre, but what is it all about? It's basically a fantasy land I thought up when I was 12, and I've been building upon it ever since. I believe it to be the next Eragon or LotR, so watch the book shelves!
But for now it's a fantasy-themed adoption site, and we've got seven pets to choose from - two of which are unavailable until next year. More will be created when I have time of course. I've made my own theme, edited the script a bit, but all in all it's about 95% Brandon's work (but I'm sure Jonathon will get a share of that percentage!).

Can't think of much else to say, so onto the images:

EDIT: Oh, there's actually 9 adoptables if you include the donators pet (worth it's pixels in gold!) - you can see it in my signature.

I agree it is a nice site and theme! I would never be-able to make the pictures, like the eggs, dragons, and other creatures. How did you make them?

They're pixel critters, I know how to make them, but am not very good at them.

Hehe, I still love your site. I'm just slow at making the adopts grow up all the way. XD

Yes, I made most of them with MS Paint, which comes standard with all Windows computers. I also use Gimp these days to 'pixel-over' scanned sketches - much easier that way.

We've also generated $150 from our adverts since November, I won't say how many Fortune Dragons I've sold.

But MS paint cant make them transparent? How do you do that?

Oh, I use my gif animator for that, but Gimp can do it too.
