Can I switch hosts?

My current host isn't working as well as I hoped and the website is constantly down. Is there any way to switch hosts?

(Sorry I keep posting stuff here, I'm pretty new :P)

Well definitely you can. You may want to back up your files through downloading from ftp, and your databases by downloading sql files from PHPmyadmin. If you do not believe this is worth doing, just forget about the old host and sign up with whatever new hosts you want to.

Of course you can switch... it's not something you need to ask us ^^ You'll just have to re-install the script.

If you mean, can you move your current site to another host. I don't know if that's possible, unless you own the domain then its possible. Though to prevent starting over you could download all your files into a zip file then use the "import website" function.

(I've been posting a lot too, same reason. As long as its not spam, I think the staff doesn't mind. Might be happy to see activity too, I know I'd be happy to see any amount of non-spam activity on a site/forum of my own.)

@Solskeen:
Of course we do not mind members being active, and in fact active users usually receive sooner and better support than those who just register, post a question and disappear. May sound unfair, but its all reasonable especially considering we coders only have limited amount of time to program and offer supports.

cPanel (or crappy alternative maybe) MAY LOOK DIFFERENT BUT FUNCTIONS SAME.
If you need some help backing up files, here.
Depending on what host you use, you may get a backup option, likewise here.

If not, then you can always open the File Manager and

Highlight over everything, compress. Download it by double clicking.

If you just use a FTP client like FileZilla, you SHOULD be able to do the same thing, just would take longer.

As for your database, open up PHPMYADMIN,

locate your database, and

Export it. You can then go to the new host, and simply import it using the tab in the above image.

When you get to your new host and move everything in, MAKE SURE to edit your inc/config though, so it works!

I would move your site for you if you want. Also if your still looking for a host check my sig.
