I had it running for about 3 months. The site started slow, and then activity boosted all of a sudden. I moved from sharedhost to pacifichost's vps, hoping it will work better(the cost was 5 times higher with pacifichost's vps, I thought it should be fine). Turned out to be the opposite, and pacifichost killed the site completely.
Oh you like the new ACP theme for Mys v1.4.0? Thx, thats so good to know. The theme is just the very first step to the ACP overhaul project, you will be amazed at how powerful the new ACP will be by the time Mys v1.4.0 is released. If you want to take a look at the new code, go ahead and I wont stop you. They are quite complicated to beginners and noncoders, so dont get yourself dizzy. XD
There is not really one particular webhost suitable for everyone, it really depends on what your site is. $100 a month should not be a problem for young adults, you will get there someday.
Now I am just glad I finally got rid of them. Its weird though, usually a bad host that goes offline once or twice per day is not likely to kill your community, but for video sharing site its a different story. The damage is minor if you do not have an active community either.
Well I am using Webhostingbuzz for this dedicated server now, it costs more than $100 a month but I like it so far. Of course I have other sites hosted on this server too, the script alone does not need a powerful host like that.
I actually had a video sharing site hosted on a place called Pacifichost before, the service was... Well it completely killed the site, so you can imagine how bad it was. I have a way better host now, but whats lost is lost forever.
Well yeah, you need to submit knowing how amazing a site it has become.
This hosting account expires on Sunday, so I have to do it anyway since I see no reason to renew it. I have a dedicated server running with PHP 5.3.10 now, so this shared server with PHP 5.2.17 can become history.
I see, so its about time to submit to directories? XD
Anyway I will shut down this support forum for about 12-36 hours starting from tonight, as I have to complete the hosting account and domain transfer soon. Just so you know.
